Meet Dave Mather, Course Logistics Coordinator

He is also an avid cyclist, having participated in most of the Century rides and many tours in the Midwest. He has completed one 5-Hour Century in his riding career so he knows what an important milestone this challenge is. Dave’s primary concern is the safety of Riders as well as providing a route conducive to a fast-paced ride. If you have any questions regarding the ride contact dave@sub5century.org.

The Start/Finish

The route begins and ends at Hampshire High School, located on Big Timber Road approximately one-half mile west of Route 20 on Big Timber Rd near Hampshire, Illinois. There is ample parking available on site as well as volunteers to assist with parking.  All vehicles should br parked no later than 7:00 am. Riders will have access to rest rooms located near the athletic field. A warm up course will be available on site for those who wish to avoid a cold start. Shower facilities and lunch will be made available after the ride.

The Course

The route is over flat to rolling rural terrain with low vehicular traffic and includes two feed zones at approximately 35 and 70 miles. In addition there will be a water zone at the ride mid-point. At each feed zone Riders will have access to rest room facilities. The concept of the feed zones is to provide Rider Groups with the necessary assistance to minimize their stop time. Course Marshals will be located at the feed zones and at all major intersections along the route to ensure a steady non-stop pace for ride groups. Support vehicles will travel the route to provide rider assistance and assist traffic control.
